Through this carefully curated selection, the festival celebrates cinema’s ability to inspire, educate, preserve culture, and foster meaningful dialogue across communities.

Judges

Bappa Ray

Anthropological/ Ethnographic filmmaker who has been working among the rural and tribal communities, documenting their lifestyles and livelihoods for the last three decades. Apart from life studies, his filmmaking has been used as a tool to empower tribal communities through education and literacy. He has received several National and International Awards in the field of visual anthropology and ethnography. He also worked in the field of rural development, literacy and women's empowerment. He served on the Governing Council of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute in Kolkata.

Souvik Dutta

Souvik Dutta is a Chicago-based writer, filmmaker, actor, and cultural organizer whose work explores human relationships, identity, mythology, and the immigrant experience. After making his U.S. theater debut in 2017, he directed the acclaimed Bengali adaptation Number 13 and later expanded into digital storytelling through web series and award-winning short films. His recent work includes The Perfect Murder, Madhu Kaitabh, and The Missing Piece. Through film, theater, and cultural initiatives, Souvik creates stories that foster empathy, reflection, and meaningful dialogue.
