North American Bengali Conference (NABC) 2026 Literary Festival (White Plains, NY)

Literature is a principal architect of cultural life in any society, and Bengali literature, in particular, has long served as a foundational wellspring of Bengali cultural identity. On this premise, the Literary Program of NABC 2026 is conceived not merely as a seminar series, but as a comprehensive Literary Festival, a curated forum for rigorous reflection, creative exchange, and the public celebration of Bengali letters(alphabets).

As part of NABC 2026, the Cultural Association of Bengal, USA (CAB) will inaugurate a new initiative, a Book Fair, representing a significant expansion of the conference’s cultural and intellectual offerings. In addition, CAB will, for the first time, formally recognize a distinguished author writing in Bengali, thereby reaffirming its commitment to the vitality and continuity of Bengali-language literary production.

The NABC 2026 Literary Festival will convene established writers, performers, and emerging voices from across North America through a series of engaging panels and discussions in White Plains. Featured participants will include Nabakumar Basu, Nalini Bera, Abhigyan Roychowdhury, Dr. Shib Shankar Pal, Kunal Basu, and Aditi Basu Ray. The program will be further enriched by the recitation artistry of noted Bāchik Shilpi (recitation artists) Mousumi Hossain and many others.

জন্ম ১৯৫২ খ্রিস্টাব্দে, পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মেদিনীপুরে, এক প্রত্যন্ত গ্রামে। 'অর্থনীতি'-তে স্নাতকোত্তর। পেশায় সিভিল সার্ভেন্ট, সরকারি পদস্থ আধিকারিক, অধুনা অবসরপ্রাপ্ত । কবিতা দিয়ে সাহিত্য জীবন শুরু । রচনা করেছেন একাধিক কাব্যগ্রন্থ, প্রায় অর্ধশতাধিক উপন্যাস ও কুড়িটি গল্পগ্রন্থ । 'শবরচরিত' 'সুবর্ণরেণু সুবর্ণরেখা' 'মাটির মৃদঙ্গ' 'অমৃত কলসযাত্রা', ইত্যাদি উপন্যাসের স্রষ্টা । পেয়েছেন বাংলা অকাদেমি পুরস্কার, 'আনন্দ পুরস্কার' 'বিদ্যাসাগর পুরস্কার' 'রবীন্দ্র পুরস্কার' রাষ্ট্রীয় 'কতৃত্ব সমগ্র সম্মান'।

ড. শিবশঙ্কর পাল মূলত প্রাবন্ধিক। ক্ষেত্রসমীক্ষা ভিত্তিক লোকসংস্কৃতিকে তুলে ধরছেন তাঁর নানা গ্রন্থে। স্বল্প বয়সেই দেশ-বিদেশের পত্র-পত্রিকায় লেখালিখি, সমাজসেবামূলক কাজে জড়িয়েছেন নিজেকে। জীবনানন্দ, শঙ্খ ঘোষ, উৎপলকুমার বসুকে নিয়ে লেখা তাঁর গ্রন্থগুলি যেন একেকটা গবেষণা। তাঁর 'বীরভূমের ব্যতিক্রমী পূজাচার', 'বাংলার লুপ্তপ্রায় লোকশ্লোক' বইগুলি বাংলার প্রত্যন্ত জনজীবনের লোকসংস্কৃতিকে তুলে ধরে।সাহিত্য-সংস্কৃতিতে ড. পালের অবদান পাঠকমহলেও বিশেষ সমাদৃত।
